Thank you Patricia,
Self-sufficiency is an art that has been lost but many people are waking up to it once again.
With the Hui garden that I belong to here in Maui, I'm amazed at how much produce it's producing.
I'm convinced that most people can be growing or even just sprouting some of their food.
Aloha

Dear Carolyn,

I encourage more people to have their own gardens and grow herbs and vegetables.I tell them of the joys being close to the earth and yes, the health benefits.

It is time for We The People to stop believing the lies that we are told and wake up to becoming the solutions.

We allowed our government to do as they wanted, believing that they had our interest at heart. When-in-fact, it was their interest we are serving.

We need to learn word consciousness-What do the words mean? If one looks up a word, there are more meanings to the words. So, the clue is to be aware of the different ways to use the word and how is the promoter using the word to get you to perform for their inerest?

Not getting caught in the promoter's hidden agenda is the beginning of real freedom and abundance.

Thank you for all of your efforts to bring about health information to guide others towards optimum health.

In wellness,

Patricia Blumhagen

Dear Nita,
Thanks for your question. Although I can't answer personal health questions on this blog I will give some general answers. Bystolic is a beta blocker that slows the heart rate and decreases the muscle contractility, it also relaxes blood vessels, it is mostly used for blood pressure. Magnesium does all these things...and more. Magnesium should always be the first line of treatment for arrythmia and blood pressure. See the video called The Balance Between Calcium and Magnesium at www.nutritionalmagnesium.org. When there is too much calcium relative to magnesium, the heart gets irritable and can produce arrythmia.
Coumadin is the treatment doctors use to prevent clotting. Magnesium also works on this level by detoxifying the blood to keep it from becoming too "thick" and it is also a mild blood thinner, but doesn't work the same way as coumadin, so people can take both without side effects.
The forms of magnesium are outlined in previous posts but include Magnesium citrate oral powder, angstrom magnesium, and magnesium oil. Usually twice as much magnesium as calcium is the best ratio.
I hope this helps and you can get this information in my Magnesium Miracle book. There is enough research in it to convince a doctor of its benefits.
Aloha

Dear Carolyn

I've developed an arrhythmia. My doctor started me on Bystolic for my blood pressure and suggesting coumadin. I usually take magnesium with my calcium. I've started taking a magnesium supplement separately. Do you think it will help with the arrhythmia? What do you think of the Bystolic and coumadin? Bystolic is lowering my blood pressure, but not helping the arrhythmia. Any imput would be appreciated.

Dear Dr. Carolyn
How can the MidAmerica Croplife group and Congerss tell the citizens of this Counrty what to do in their own yards?
Are they saying that you can't grow a plant in your yard without covering it with a pesticide? Who's interests are they looking out for? Sounds a bit too invasive to me...

Hello Linda,
I don't think I've seen any allergic reactions to magnesium but the human body is so amazing...anything is possible.
What most people experience with magnesium is often an immediate (within 48 hours) improvement in one or more symptoms. And other improvements often continue.
However, there can be detox reactions or healing reactions that occur.
1. If a person has mercury fillings, it's possible that magnesium is detoxing mercury from mouth tissues and that can show up on the skin but should be short lived (1-2 weeks). An individual can hasten the detox by doing magnesium oil or salts baths and taking oral bentonite clay to absorb toxins.
2. If a person had acne or acne rosacea for which they took medication, the skin could react with rashes and itching as the skin is going through detox.
3. In a more general sense, magnesium can start revving up the body's "motors" in all the 325 enzyme systems for which magnesium is the ignition key. When that happens things can look very rosy for a short time...then the body can slump because it's actually wanting more and more magnesium.
4. If you take more magnesium but get loose stool from it, you can be losing as much as you take. At that point you cut back on oral magnesium and add magnesium oil and or angstrom magnesium (www.123minerals.com)
5. If after a few months you feel a slump or some twitching or cramping comes back, that can be an indication of a need for calcium. Then you add a cal mag product that has more mag than calcium.
6. In one or two cases over the years I've seen athletes with a slow pulse and low blood pressure feel like magnesium is making them "too relaxed", or faint, or they experience too low BP. In those cases I recommend taking magnesium and calcium together or taking magnesium oil instead of an oral magnesium.

I hope this helps everyone understand some of the finer points about magnesium and thank you Linda for asking the question so I could get this updated information out there!
Aloha

Thanks for answering the question I was going to ask about heirloom/organic seeds. I have one other question. I just finished reading your book, The Magnesium Miracle" & loved it. Started taking Natural Calm. But after the 2nd day, my face got red & blotchy. Nowhere in the book could I find any info on possible negative or allergic reactions to magnesium. Could this be die off? On a good note, my foot cramps and twitching are gone...;o)
