My daughter and I got sick last week, but it was like a really nasty cold. I didn’t get the aches and I don’t think I had a fever; she had a temp but it didn’t go above 100, maybe 101 at the most. Viral temperature, basically. It wound up giving her croup too, which she has never had in her life and she just turned five on the 2nd. The way she woke up with it she scared the hell out of me and we went to the ER only to be told they “couldn’t rule out” H1N1. Well, yes you could–you could test for it. Nope, nothin’ doin’.

Now the local paper is taking parents to task for not wanting the vaccine. Well, I was willing to take the risk because we live with her dad (I’m not involved with him anymore, we’re friends) and he’s asthmatic with lots of allergies. I didn’t want to put him at greater risk. Problem is there’s a shortage of vaccine doses. IF we have had swine flu then we’re immune unless it shifts antigens, as flu viruses do, in which case the vaccine would be useless anyway. But IF the vaccine helps, IF we have had this flu and IF we get the shots anyway then we are taking doses away from people who really need them!

The only way they are going to be able to effectively vaccinate the population IS if they test for H1N1. Otherwise people think they caught a mild cold with the seasonal change and then get a shot they don’t need and there are that many fewer doses for people with underlying conditions and the like. They’ll get sick and they’ll spread it. Not good.

So I’m inclined to think the government is full of it in terms of actual risk. If they really thought the vaccine would help then they’d be testing people to make sure the vaccine only went to those previously uninfected with the virus.

My little girl’s dad pointed out that it’s something like three hundred bucks to test for the antibodies. I’m like, how many thousands of dollars is it to bury someone because of too little, too late? If the government really thought that was a serious risk for most people then they’re either stupid or calculating. I don’t like my chances either way if we faced a real epidemic that was a real threat.

The CDC advised states to stop testing for H1N1 because they said the majority of flu out there was HIN1. Hardly scientific. The states that are still testing for Swine flu find that as little as 2% of what is being called swine flu tests for swine flu. So, if 100 people who go to doctors or hospitals saying they have the flu then that’s counted as swine flu which escalates the stats. Everyone is going to the doctor now because they are worried if they have a sniffle because of all the fear around the flu. And of those 100 a small fraction REALLY has the flu.

Dr Oz states shake it up because the mercury settles to the bottom. That’s just insane. He is publicly admitting it is mercury in the vaccine. Is he crazy? I am sorry, he has completely lost my respect for this stunt. I will take my chances wiht the swine flu . I take care of myself and fight for my own health. I educate myself …thank you Dr. Dean. I have never caught the flu except one time when a 2 year sneezed within a few inches of my face. I let the fever run for about 18 hours until it got unbearable. By the next day I was 90% better. After the second day it was gone. Others had it for more than week. No one could figure out how I was fine after 1 1/2 days. Eat garlic, vitamin c, rest, tons of water, clean my nasal passages out thoroughly with saline solution about a dozen times a day to avoid any secondary infections. As a preventative measures I wash my hands whenever I have been outside my home. it is the first thing I do when I walk in the door . I drop my purse and head right for the sink without touching anything. I make sure not to touch my face. When I hear someone sneeze, this is silly, I hold my breath and walk quickly away from them after shooting them a dirty look if they did not cover : ). For years this has worked for me. I also exercise, eat alot of greens, etc. I make the kids wash their hands as soon as they come home from school. I also like to clean door knobs, faucets, toilet handles etc with bleach and water frequently. I also open my window and completely air my house out at every chance I get, if it is not too cold. Especially in the bathroom. Close the door off to the bathroom shut the vent so you are not heating it and open the window in the bathroom. And last but not least I get sunshine , i try to get plenty every day , at least 15 minutes break at work.

Actually for anyone with ears to hear can read through Dr. Oz’s message. Yes, he got the vaccine and recommended it but his message is “my wife and chidren” are NOT getting it. If he were to tell the world not to get the vaccine he would cut off the air immediately. So, read the real message in the message. Don’t get the vaccine!

Dr. Oz was on a morning radio show in Toronto Oct 22 – his words were “our house is world war 3 – my wife has decided not to take the vacine and not give to it the kids – one of our kids was sick this week-end and she spent the whole week-end worrying that he may die – if you don’t want to worry then I suggest you take the vacine”
His argument was so convincing that the 4 hosts said they will now take the vaccine.
He stated that this strain had 3 other strains mixed in and no one knows if it may morph into something very serious.
He also explained the difference between the nasal and the needle vaccine – and he recommended the needle – “make sure whoever administers the needle, shakes the bottle well, as the mercury settles on the bottom”
He was very convincing – maybe someone got to him…

Trish, I think you need to reread the post. Dr. Dean wasn’t attacking Dr. Oz — she was defending him.

I assumed that was the intention. One only has to watch the American network to see commercial after commercial asking you to ask your doctor about this drug or that drug. He must tow the line and keep a low profile. I am a Canadian nurse and will NEVER take a flu shot!!! I think this is corruption, fear mongoring in the name of profits for BIG PHARMA’S INTERESTS!!! Billions and Billions of profits!!!! I do consider that this is germ warfare. Could the vaccine itself be the vector???

Well, well here we go again. The double standard is alive and well. I speak to so many people who are going to get this dreadful vaccine. They are so fearful because the media and the Medical profession instills this fear in people. Oh! if they only knew the wonderful and simple alternatives available to them. The Drug companies and the Allopathic Medical System have done a great job of brainwashing. It’s all so disgusting. Please enlighten me I was under the impression that we live in a democracy. Dr. Dean I’m so happy that people like you are fighting the good fight.

Thank you for your perspective on the issue with Dr. Oz, Carolyn. I must admit I was rather disappointed in him accepting the vacine; however, can now see the position he was in. I do watch his show most days and have learned a lot. Don’t always agree with him though as his answers don’t always correspond to natural remedies I have learned.
