I donated to both 911 and Katrina relief organizations - and now I'm finding out that someone used my - and others' - money for things other than direct relief for those injured and/or made homeless.

So, not to sound crass - but - how do we know the money/aid will be getting to the victims of the Haitian quake? Or will this just be another case of the "have a littles" (this is you and me) filling the pockets of the "haves" (those in charge of where funds go) instead of helping the "have nots" (the victims)?

Those fuzzy brown-coated kiwi fruits are an excellent vitamin C substitute for oranges, provided that you let them soften up at room temperature for a few days or more. Otherwise they can be very sour! You can either remove the fuzzy skins or eat them -- but make sure you remove the sharp thorn from the inside base or navel. It's very easy to get cut on that! Thanks for posting this and I hope your readers have plenty of other alternatives to suggest (like black currants, which are used widely in Europe).
