Hi Doc---
Just as with Vitamin D (my level was 15--scary), the mainstream will continue to recognize the detrimental effects of vitamin and mineral deficiencies on health, particularly mental health...more people will begin to choose alternative medicines over anti-depressives and anti-psychotics and stimulants...I am a new social worker interested in a clinical practice an I hope to partner with a doctor who does nutritional testing in addition to other allopathic testing...to see a child on 3 and 4 dangerous meds for mental health is heartbreaking

Aloha Brent,
I love your idea.
There is an online food menu site created by a friend of mine Caroline Nation.
www.myfoodmyhealth.com
And it's somewhat like food shops in China where they a Chinese medical doctor who takes your pulses and prescribes your lunch!
Yes, we really went down the wrong trail by following the prescription wagon train!

My Astrological network is saying as we make this shift into the age of
Acquarius it is about radical responsibility and to do that we need to revive our instincts and use our intuition about what is right for each of us and then with choice and intention create our experience.

People will network more, sharing what they know of alternative health care & wellness. Communities will develop that bridge race, income & religious lines, with more awareness that the interests of each individual support to the function of the entire local area. More folks will realize the power of spending their cash near where they live.

Right on Carolyn !

During the depression there was a rationing of sugar, butter and flour if memory serves me right. Perhaps some other things as well but I was too young to remember all of them. : )
We walked everywhere and were outside more than in , had a small patch of a garden. People didn't spend much time going to the doctor for some reason.
There were not many luxuries and we were happy for the necessities. It was a simpler time for sure.
To go forward today may be to take a step back till we get it right.
Thanks for providing all these 'goodies' today and jogging my memory.

A few years back I heard about a Healing Culinary Institute in Florida, and this definitely seems to be the wave of the future. (Hippocrates and Einstein both also advocated to "let your food be your medicine"). I'd like to go several steps further -- establish Nutritional Maintenance Organizations in place of (or alongside) HMOs. Here's how it could work: have an online survey with your particular symptoms / afflictions. (The Duprat quiz takes the same approach for homeopathy). Once you finish the survey, it diagnoses and refers you to a list of specific foods for your conditions. Then it goes even further -- allowing you to order the products from your local NMO or grocery store. So instead of a prescription, you'd get food -- and keep taking surveys to map your progress. You could also have something like this in conjunction with CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture). This to me would be much better than our present heavy subsidies to overprocessed foods -- let's start an initiative to end those as soon as possible. Stop subsidizing sickness and let the natural healing commence!
