FortiSalt, A Fantastic Salt Substitute

Carolyn Dean MD ND | Wednesday, June 23, 2010

On Wednesday, May 26, 2010, I wrote a blog called “Save Our Salt.” In that post I mentioned Smart Salt, a salt substitute that I wrote about in The Magnesium Miracle. I then received a flurry of emails that alerted me that the Smart Salt formula had been changed. On further investigation, I found that the original formula exists in a product called FortiSalt.

One teaspoon of ordinary salt contains 2400 mg of sodium. The recommended daily intake for sodium is 2400 mg per day. So it makes abundant sense to find a low sodium salt substitute. So far, FortiSalt is the best salt substitute I’ve been able to find.

I have some FortiSalt and I’m using it and loving it. You may be surprised to find that it’s in liquid form. No more salt-dump surprises. The liquid pump makes it much easier to “salt” your food to your taste.

And FortiSalt is not just low sodium. It contains the following essential minerals and trace minerals.

Ingredients Per 1 tsp:
Iodine:            25 mcg
Magnesium: 65 mg
Zinc:               2.5 mg
Selenium:      12 mcg
Copper:          0.35 mg
Manganese   0.35 mg
Chromium:    20 mcg
Molybdenum: 13 mcg
Chloride:        860 mg
Sodium:         380 mg
Potassium:    160 mg
Sulfate           60 mg
Boron             0.5 mg

FortiSalt and other mineral products are harvested from Utah’s Great Salt Lake by Mineral Resources International owned and operated by the Anderson family.

The suggested intake is one teaspoon three times a day to cook with and garnish your meals. At that dosage, you’re actually taking a multi mineral that can benefit, not just your heart, but your whole body. To my mind, it’s an even better choice than sea salt or even Himalayan salt. These salts are usually never labeled with the amount of minerals so they must be only in trace amounts.

FortiSalt is a replacement for salt, sea salt and even butter! Well, maybe not a butter replacement but it replaces the “taste” of butter.

So, the tip for today is to use FortiSalt instead of salt. Such a little change can make the world of difference in your health.
