Hamburgers and Coconut Milk

Carolyn Dean MD ND | Monday, July 4, 2011

I use coconut milk or coconut cream in several recipes:

1. Chicken or fish soups
2. Frozanas
3. Chocolate pudding with cacao and frozen banana

However I reached a new high in coconut culture a few weeks ago when I stirred 6 ounces of full fat coconut milk into a pound of organic hamburger meat. I also blended in a few ounces of essence sprouted rye bread to give it a different taste and texture to the recipe.

As I’m gently frying the hamburgers in coconut oil, I stir fry a few cut-up onions to which I add some diced tomatoes and shake in a good amount of Tabasco sauce. Then I pile the cooked hamburgers on top of the onions and tomatoes and serve. The hamburgers are soft and delicious, the best I’ve ever tasted.

You can use coconut milk, if you can find it, or organic coconut cream concentrate from Tropical Traditions where you can also find organic coconut oil…and grass-fed beef and bison as well!
