I’m not an oncologist; maybe they don’t have to repeat the Hippocratic Oath when they graduate because the ones I’ve been hearing about sure aren’t following the precept “First Do No Harm.” Several health professionals are “taking care” of a friend of mine who they diagnosed with cancer. Taking care is in quotes because I get the distinct impression that they are trying to hasten her demise. My friend lives alone and is very concerned that the chemo and radiation they are recommending would be too debilitating for her to take care of herself. When she expressed her reservations the doctors and staff tried to force her decision. The surgeon performed a total hysterectomy which removed the tumor and there were no cancer cells in the lymph nodes. But she still strongly recommended chemo and radiation in case a few cells got away and began to spread the cancer. The surgeon’s nurse phoned my friend and said, if you don’t have chemo and radiation as a preventative measure, you will be in bed in the next 6 months writhing in agony from spreading cancer wishing you had done the chemo and radiation, and it will be too late for you. My friend said that the radiology oncologist was so negative that he actually made the surgeon look like a ray of sunshine. He said she had hardly any chance of survival. He said that hard-core radiation… both wide-beam pelvic and vaginal radiation, as well as chemotherapy would be her treatment. Even with that and all of the treatments’ horrific side effects, she would have a bit more chance of survival but not much. She was told to get her affairs in order because the cancer will recurr soon. My friend refused the chemo and radiation again. Then he suggested that she do a full body CT scan to see if the chemo and radiation was worth doing at all. He said the cancer may have already spread to other parts of my body like the lungs, in which case there is no hope, so the treatment would be a waste of time. He also said that if the cancer recurs, there is nothing much they can do. They can try chemo and radiation at that point, but he said the results would not be great. My friend said that her experience just proves that with all the billions poured into cancer research, they still know nothing! My first thought was to get her away from these so-called health professionals who were likely creating another cancer due to the tremendous fear they were generating in her. I believe that as much as positive affirmations can help heal serious illness, multiple negative affirmations can cause disease. I believe that an unsolvable problem can worry the mind to the point that it tries to find a solution in the physical body through illness. Over the next few blogs, I’ll give you my thoughts on the cause, the prevention and the treatment of cancer.
