Treating Macular Degeneration & Macular Hole

February 25, 2017

Last week a friend asked if there were any natural remedies for treating a hole in the macula. The macula is an oval-shaped pigmented area near the center of the retina of the eye, which forms the back layer of the eye. The retina is sensitive to light and triggers nerve impulses that pass along the optic nerve to the brain, where a visual image is formed. The macula has a diameter of around 5.5 mm.

Holding the shape of the eyeball are two fluid compartments. The aqueous humor is in front of the lens (that’s where cataracts form). The vitreous humor in the posterior compartment, located between the lens and the retina and macula, is a clear gel occupying about 80% of the volume of the eyeball. Light initially entering the eye through the cornea, pupil, and lens, is transmitted through the vitreous to the retina.

Macular degeneration is a degenerative condition affecting the central part of the retina called the macula and resulting in distortion or loss of central vision. It occurs especially in older adults, and is called age-related macular degeneration. The exact cause of macular degeneration is not known, but the condition develops as the eye ages and the medical texts are quick to tell you that there is no cure.

A macular hole involves damage at the junction between the vitreous and the retina and apparently it is not related to macular degeneration. Medical texts say that rarely, trauma may lead to the development of a macular hole, however in the vast majority of cases macular holes develop spontaneously. Thus, they are quick to assure us that there is no known way to prevent their development through any nutritional or chemical means. But they do say that shrinking of the vitreous usually causes the hole and as a person ages, the vitreous becomes watery and begins to pull away from the retina potentially causing a hole.

When I hear that there is no known cause and no known cure for any condition, I immediately think of nutrient deficiencies and toxicity as the likely causes, because those are the areas that medicine ignores. And as you can see, they are very quick to say there is no nutritional cause or cure.

So, let’s explore the vitreous humor, which has the following composition: MY COMMENTS ARE IN CAPS

1.    Water (99%), (THUS DEHYDRATION PLAYS A BIG ROLE IN “SHRINKING THE MACULA”

2.    A network of collagen fibrils, (WHEY PROTEIN IN RESTRUCTURE HELPS BUILD COLLAGEN)

3.    Large molecules of hyaluronic acid, (HYALURONIC ACID IS DEPENDENT UPON MAGNESIUM (REMAG) FOR ITS SYNTHESIS.)

4.    Peripheral cells (hyalocytes), (WHICH NEED MINERAL BUILDING BLOCKS FROM REMAG, REMYTE, REALINE, RESTRUCTURE, RNA DROPS)

5.    Inorganic salts, (ESPECIALLY MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE (REMAG) BUT ALSO REMYTE AND UNREFINED SEA SALT)

6.    Sugar (WHICH IS GLUCOSE THAT IS BROKEN DOWN FROM OUR DIET)

7.    Ascorbic acid. (TAKE ASCORBIC ACID AND FOOD BASED VITAMIN C DAILY.)

In the case of a macular hole, I listened while a surgeon told my friend that he would remove the vitreous humor from her eye with a needle and insert a gas bubble with another needle to push the macula back in place. The treatment would result in a cataract within 5 years, but he said that was easily removed!

For macular degeneration, doctors try to slow the progression of the disease by treating the leaky blood vessels in the macula that seem to cause the degeneration with drugs or laser surgery. It’s interesting that they don’t identify this as a cause of the condition but that’s what they try to treat. Leaky capillaries can be caused by deficiency of ascorbic acid and bioflavonoids found in food-based vitamin C or fresh fruit.

Knowing that the vitreous gel needs the above list of nutrients, including water, minerals, vitamin C, and whey – why not provide those nutrients so that the eye can have a chance to heal itself? Feed the vitreous humor so it isn’t shrinking and dehydrating and pulling away from the macula and causing little holes. Feed it so the capillaries aren’t leaking and causing degeneration. Doctors don’t think to do this because they aren’t looking at the problem with nutrition in mind or with commonsense!

For any macular condition, hydration, unrefined sea salt, and all the Total Body ReSet products are important. Drink 1/2  your body weight in ounces of water, adding ¼ tsp of salt to each liter. Take the whole Total Body ReSet bundle: ReMag, ReMyte, ReAline, ReStructure and RnA Drops. With the RnA Drops you can also get an eye cup and a bottle of pure saline from the drugstore. Put saline into the eye cup and put in ONE drop of RnA and rinse your eyes once or twice a day!!

Basically, I think the great increase in macular problems in our generation is due to dehydration, mineral depletion, and toxicity. I repeat, when doctors say they don’t know what causes macular problems, this puts them in the realm of nutritional deficiency, which doctors learn nothing about in med school. That leaves the field wide open for us to reverse what’s happening.
