Here’s reason #3 why the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 (from the TV show LOST) were healed of chronic diseases upon landing on “The Island” (click here for part 1)…

Flashbacks! And boy does LOST have a lot of them (about five per episode). I guess being stranded in the middle of the Pacific gave each character time to reflect and work out past emotional trauma. According to German New Medicine, all diseases have a component of unresolved emotional trauma.

We saw flashbacks to Jack’s failed marriage… the violent death of Sawyer’s parents … Kate’s abusive step-father… Hurley’s no-show father… Charlie’s heroine-driven rock n’ roll career… John’s kidney-stealing dad… Sayid’s moonlighting as a torturer… Claire putting her mom in a coma… Boone’s infatuation with his step sister … Walt losing his mom… Michael losing Walt… Ana Lucia losing her baby… Desmond becoming a drunk monk… Jin becoming a hit man… Sun marrying a hit man…

Imagine how healthy we’d all be if we spent even one day a year resolving major issues from our past like this.

While self-analysis is a great way to unlock these types of emotional blocks, another method I recommend is EFT. The Emotional Freedom Technique combines ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology to create prosperity, clarity, energy and healing of body and mind.

But you don’t need to get on a plane (or fall out of one) to learn about EFT. Instead, you can attend the 2010 Tapping World Summit – a free online event featuring Carol Look, Patricia Carrington, Brad Yates, Bob Doyle, Carol Tuttle and more. Click here to view a short video introduction.

P.S. When you register for the 2010 Tapping World Summit you’ll also get immediate access to interviews with Jack Canfield and Joe Vitale (from The Secret) and Bruce Lipton (author of The Biology of Belief).

P.P.S. The new season of LOST lunges forward tonight!

It’s amazing how much money researchers will spend to reach a conclusion so obvious that a brain dead lemur could have told you…

The Archives of Internal Medicine published a study that followed 1,861 people (born in 1920 and 1921) over a 15 year period. They determined that “older adults who… exercise appear to live longer and have a lower risk of disability.” (ScienceDaily)

If you do even one hour of walking a day, according to this study, you are 17% less likely to die before your 88th birthday than if you just sat home watching talk shows. And your chances of being able to take care of yourself and perform day-to-day tasks, well into your eighties, are about 20% higher than the average.

Statistics are great for the left brain – but aren’t always the most motivating when it comes time to do the deed…

To get myself revved up for exercise I hum “I Like to Move It, Move It” from the film Madagascar.
Here’s part two of the series I started last week where I explain why the extraordinary healing powers of The Island from the TV show LOST aren’t all that extraordinary (plus how you can replicate such natural “miracles” in your own life)…

Let’s look at John Locke, the bald-headed, boar-hunting, shamanic office worker who was confined to a wheel chair before arriving on The Island. As fans of the show know, only moments after the crash, he could walk again.

How could this be?

Well, being thrown out of a plane that breaks apart at high altitudes is an unorthodox way of adjusting a misaligned spinal cord. But that could be exactly what happened to John. It’s a fact that without a properly aligned spine your nervous system cannot function properly. Your organs and muscles are not able to communicate properly with your brain.

While being thrown out of plane worked for John – most of the passengers were killed on impact. And, besides, John had already survived falling eight stories (how he first injured his back). He’s obviously a little more durable than the rest of us.

A less dangerous approach would involve daily stretching, strength training and cardio.

And if you are currently suffering from back, neck or sciatic pain I highly recommend following the simple methods of healing Jesse Cannone’s Healthy Back Institute teaches. If you haven’t requested your copy of Jesse’s book, The 7-Day Back Pain Cure, please click here to find out how to get a copy for free.

The H1N1 hoax of 2009. Did you notice how both the mainstream and the alternative media blew things way out of proportion? For example:

Alternative media scared people witless predicting forced inoculation and concentration camps for those who didn’t submit to the Vaccine Gestapo.

Mainstream media predicted H1N1 would kill millions worldwide.

Alternative media predicted millions dying from the vaccine, instead.

So far neither the virus nor the vaccine seemed to have caused a significant decrease in the population of planet Earth. (Although, we don’t have any way of tracking the long term effects of mercury in the vaccines.)

Last fall, I wrote how I simply didn’t believe the government had the capability to forcefully inoculate the entire public. And the far fetched idea that they’d tag everybody with RFID bracelets was simply giving the government’s organizational abilities more credit than they deserved. (FEMA could barely get water to the survivors during Katrina.)

The media likes to look at the worst possible outcome of any situation. (Don’t forget, they sell advertising. The more shocked you are by what they put on the news, the more vulnerable you are to their ads.) Then, when the worst doesn’t happen, they simply start reporting their next dire predictions. That’s why I feel people need to have weekly news fasts and focus more on thoughts and activities that help you, your family and your community.

P.S. Please, realize that just because some psychotic elite has a devious plan for the human race — it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen to you…or happen at all.

P.S. Everything’s a balance between staying informed and not jumping to conclusions. I’ve just re-released Death by Modern Medicine: Seeking Safe Solutions. It deals with the actual state of the medical system (not blown out of proportion predictions). It’s my way of setting the record straight about what’s really going on in medicine. Click here for more information.

“What an irresponsible article,” says one reader in response to Faking Our Foods – where I wrote that a moderate amount of organic dairy fat is healthy. Two others join her to give me quite a lecture based on opinions that they confuse with facts:

“Cow’s milk is made for calves – not humans,” they say. Well, for at least 6,000 years we have records of mankind milking cows, goats, camels and buffalo. Who’s to say what Nature intended? Is wool just for sheep?

“Saturated fat from cow’s milk is NEVER healthy for humans!” Never is a rather all-knowing word. Especially when most studies have proven that without saturated fat your brain cannot function properly or handle stress.

“Do you know how much cholesterol even one tablespoon of heavy cream packs? Enough to send you on your way to some serious health problems.” If it was that harmful then every breastfeed infant would be in the ER.

“Dairy causes… weight gain.” Actually fat burns slowly and in moderation will keep you thin.

“What about the suffering of dairy cows?” Of course the factory farming going on in the industrialized world is horrible beyond belief. But check out an organic farm. Those cows have it made: Sunshine. Pastures. Exercise. Water.

As another reader, Jim, wisely commented in the crossfire: “Nutritional health is a complex individual issue… What a healthy diet shouldn’t be is a ‘religion’ with true believers yelling ‘heresy’ at every affront to their beliefs.”

P.S. In my opinion, most dairy sold today is harmful. Module 9 and 45 of Future Health Now! tells you why and contains my best advice on selecting, preparing and consuming healthy sources of milk and cheese.
In the TV show LOST (of which I’m a big fan) Oceanic Flight 815 crashes on a tropical island in the South Pacific. The survivors soon find themselves cured of chronic illnesses. They heal quickly from minor accidents. Even infertility vanishes.

Well, I’m going to show you why I think “The Island’s” healing powers aren’t all that fantastical at all. Plus, find out how you can get the same health benefits whether you live in Bermuda or Norway.

First off, let’s look at Rose Henderson — the African American lady whose cancer disappeared upon arriving on The Island.

She came from Buffalo — which lacks sunlight. Dark skinned people need more sunshine than whites if they are to produce sufficient vitamin D (Dr. Roby Mitchell taught me that!). So when Rose got stranded in the sunny South Pacific, her vitamin D skyrocketed. Vitamin D has been proven to help your immune system fight off cancer cells big time.

But even if you are as white as a snowman, it’s still impossible for you to get enough vitamin D from the sun in the winter. So make sure you are doing one (or all) of the following:

Taking vitamin D3 supplements (e.g. Carlson Laboratories’ D drops 2000 IU).

Using safe tanning equipment for 20 minutes a day (like Dr. Mercola offers).

Taking filtered cod liver oil (e.g. Carlson Laboratories’ Norwegian Cod Liver Oil).

Next Tuesday I’ll explain why John Locke’s miraculous healing from paralysis wasn’t all that miraculous.
Reports are coming in that as much as 40% of the world’s orange juice supply (mainly from Florida) may be destroyed thanks to the global deep freeze we are currently experiencing. (necn.com)

Will 2010 be remembered as the year without oranges? Hard to say. It does sound, however, like there’ll be less of them around. And those you do see may cost a lot more than they do now. A lot more.

Some people are wondering how they’ll survive. Will you get scurvy? Where will you get your vitamin C?

First off, less orange juice on the planet is probably a good thing. Most of what lines the shelves of supermarkets has been cooked, deoxygenated, artificially flavored, frozen, transported great distances, kept in storage for months, dehydrated and then reconstituted into something that doesn’t even resemble orange juice. It’s questionable how much benefit anybody gets from most commercial orange juice.

Manufacturers could probably whip up some artificially flavored sugar water substitute for orange juice and nobody would notice the difference (sort of like what Ocean Spray did to cranberry juice).

Until I came to Maui and ate oranges fresh off the tree, I didn’t realize the huge difference.

Secondly, drinking lots of orange juice isn’t the greatest. Yes, a big glass of freshly squeezed OJ may be loaded with immune boosting vitamin C – but the high sugar content can suppress your immune system even more. Yes, its natural sugar, but still sugar.

Now a little orange juice in your diet, if you like, is fine. Don’t worry. It won’t make you diabetic. But pouring tall glasses of the butchered Tropicana variety won’t do you much good.

Best way to consume your oranges is by peeling them and chewing them. This way you get the fiber. You also get the bioflavonoids (the white part of the orange) which you don’t get when drinking it. Many researchers believe that vitamin C won’t do you much good unless you also get the bioflavonoids. That’s where the term ”vitamin C complex” comes from. The juice contains mostly the ascorbic acid part of the picture.

So if you’re use to drinking lots of orange juice, switch to just an orange a day. And if the food crisis is as bad as many predict – you may have no choice.

Now, if orange prices really do spike you may want to skip eating them altogether. There are plenty of other alternatives.

Other food sources of vitamin C and my top recommended sources of non-synthetic vitamin C supplements are contained in Volume One (formerly called Module One) of Future Health Now! If you haven’t already, click here to download a copy of volume one for free.

P.S. More than just oranges were harmed by the deep freeze. Food scarcity could be a big issue this year. Yet another reminder that we need to stock up on healthy non-perishables. Check out My 911 Experience in New York for more details.

P.P.S. The people of earthquake-stricken Haiti are currently facing a catastrophe that makes our orange juice crisis laughable. Consider joining NaturalNews in support of the International Rescue Committee’s deployment to the devastated city of Port-au-Prince. Click here to read Mike Adam’s pledge request or click here to make a donation (even $10 will help).

Here’s what science fiction writer Ray Bradbury had to say about the future of mankind…

People ask me to predict the future, when all I want to do is prevent it. Better yet, build it. Predicting the future is much too easy, anyway. You look at the people around you, the street you stand on, the visible air you breathe, and predict more of the same. To hell with more. I want better. — Beyond 1984: The People Machines (cited at spaceagecity.com)

Along those lines, here are four more wellness predictions for 2010 (If you missed part 1, please click here. And part 2 is available here.)…

Prediction #9: More Natural Self-Care

It looks like Americans will be forced to pay into a system of health care that only delays death through drugs and surgery. Great for the emergency room, bad for daily life (see my two-part article Am I Too Hard On Mainstream Medicine?).

Combine that with a failing economy and the average person will not have as much money for the professional services that actually return people to a state of health (e.g. naturopaths, chiropractors, etc.)

Instead they’ll start looking after themselves. Getting to the root causes of their ailments by changing the way they live. Exercising more. Eating better. Getting rid of toxic chemicals in their home.

They’ll be turning in droves to Google.com searching the most advanced network of computers the world has ever seen (the World Wide Web) to learn how to get back in synch with nature. (Here’s hoping they find Future Health Now!)

Prediction #10: Decreased Income Equals Increased Life Expectancy

During the Great Depression the average life expectancy for an American citizen increased by 6.2 years according to a University of Michigan study (cited in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences). Researchers also found overall health decreases during economic expansion.

Sounds counterintuitive, doesn’t it? Well when the economy is booming so is stress. People work longer, sleep less and spend more (usually more than they have). When they have money in their pockets they’ll waste it on smoking, drinking and overeating. Pollution of all kinds also goes up during “good times.”

So let’s hope approaching economic struggles means everybody will kick back, relax and enjoy the simpler things in life.

Prediction #11: The Beginning of the End of Mainstream News

Growing distrust of corporate mainstream news will lead millions to alternative internet sources (like rense.com and infowars.com) for news that will finally wake them out of their slumber of apathy. And more and more people will turn to sites like NaturalNews.com and Mercola.com for health news. An informed population is the first step to massive and permanent change.

Prediction #12: You Tell Me

In the comment box below let me know your predictions for 2010 – whether it be about health or other issues. All in the spirit of preventing a dark future and shaping a positive one.

Many people are concerned about how the economy will pan out in 2010. Government bailouts tried to keep things together in ‘09. But at what price? Did we avoid a recession only to set ourselves up for another great depression?

But just because we might all be bartering potatoes and trading with silver coins… it doesn’t mean our health must suffer. In fact, it might all lead to healthier times for those who embrace it with the right attitude.

Along those lines, here are four more wellness predictions for 2010. (If you missed part 1, please click here.)

Prediction #5: More Produce From Local Farmers

More people will start “renting” pieces of land from farmers and paying the farmer to toil the soil and supply them with the fruits of their labor. The result will be higher quality, environmentally friendly food while boosting the local economy. People will benefit both from the lack of pesticides but also from eating food in season that only traveles a few miles at most. Because they are buying direct and in advance they’ll save a bundle.

Prediction #6: Rising Fuel Prices Will Lead to More Walking and Biking

I think it’s time to reveal that I’ve never owned a car. I’ve lived in all manner of places – from the Big Apple to Nova Scotia and now Maui. I mainly walk and bike (even swim). It’s one of the simplest ways to become healthier. Even better if you live in hilly country.

So if fuel prices double, triple or quadruple – as many are predicting (whether due to oil scarcity or inflation) – people will be forced to do more walking out in the fresh air and sunshine – often carrying, pushing or pulling something to boot.

Prediction #7: Less Wireless Technology

For many, if the economy really goes sour, the first thing to go (or at least reduce) will be cell phones and BlackBerrys. This will mean people will be exposing themselves less to the dangers of wireless technology. It’ll also mean there will be less cell phone towers broadcasting DNA disrupting microwaves. (For more on reducing the negative effects of wireless technology see Module 18 of Future Health Now!).

Prediction #8: A Simpler Christmas 2010

After commissioning a survey to study the stress produced by Christmas shopping, the managing director of DealTime.co.uk said: “We were very surprised to see that [Christmas shopping] was thought to be a more traumatic experience than working, visiting the dentist or looking after a crying baby, things which usually have people pulling their hair out.” (BBC News)

Next Christmas, people will be more concerned about necessities like food and clothing than luxury gifts. People will be more likely to just make baked goods, knit a sweater or buy fruit for friends and family. It’ll cost less, be easier to plan, and probably more appreciated.

Personally, I gave up Christmas shopping decades ago. Too much stress for a holiday that’s supposed to be about the gift of peace.

Amazing how something as harmless looking as tomato sauce could be so deadly if allowed to ferment.

Time for the unveiling of the true culprit of my unfortunate night of purging.
Yes, it was probably spoiled tomato sauce that caused the food poisoning I experienced a few weeks back (as most of you bright people guessed).

Time for the unveiling of the true culprit of my unfortunate night of purging.

Yes, it was probably spoiled tomato sauce that caused the food poisoning I experienced a few weeks back (as most of you bright people guessed).

Someone gave me the benefit of the doubt saying I probably cooked the sauce before using it. But I remember being in a rush. So, yes, I used it straight from the fridge!

And no, it wasn’t a sealed jar. It had been opened.

Nor can I say how long it was there. (A few days? A week? Less than a month!)

This is exactly the type of thing I teach members of Future Health Now! NOT to do in Module 39. Once you open a jar of tomato sauce – and I don’t care if it’s organic or some cheap mixture of sugar and tomato paste – it’s now exposed to air. Once you add air to the mixture you’ve provided the missing element which bacteria, mold and yeast need to really start reproducing like crazy.

In fact, organic tomato sauce is probably even worse because it’s not loaded with artificial preservatives.

Now, after I use part of a jar (since I’m usually just cooking for two) the rest goes in several individual containers in the freezer. The freezer is too cold for bacteria to flourish (of course, don’t leave it in there for years). And one observant reader noticed I do use plastic containers and admonished me to switch to glass. Guilty as charged!

That’s all I had to do. Freeze it. Or, at least, reheat it. It was a pretty silly reason for spending such an awful night. I’ve learned my lesson and hope my experience will save you from a similar fate.

P.S. I couldn’t rule out the cacao powder either. As I talk about in Module 39 of Future Health Now! you just can’t clean powders (without dissolving them). And who knows where that powder has been, how old it really is and whether it was exposed to damp conditions that could produce mold. So now I mix the cacao in water or coconut juice and heat it over the stove for a few minutes before blending it into my frozen bananas and coconut milk pudding. The heat will kill the bacteria.

P.P.S. Check out Module 39 of Future Health Now! for more details about how to prepare food so that it’s relatively free of mold, yeast and bacteria. This goes for cooked food, vegetarian food and raw food. They can all go from being healthy to toxic because some simple practices weren’t observed. While most mold, yeast and bacteria won’t make you as sick as I was… it can still be zapping your energy, ruining your ability to concentrate and stressing out your immune system.
