The following is the sequel to A Comedy of Medical Errors: How To Talk To Your Doctor So You Don’t End Up Dead. Sylvia, our heroine, gave me an update on her last episode of Real Psychiatrists in the 21st Century at her 4-week follow up appointment.
She said, “After I talked for 10-15 minutes (don’t even remember what I said), my psychiatrist asked me if I was having any side effects on the anti-depressant. I asked him what the side effects would be, and everything he listed can be attributed to magnesium deficiency. I told him I experienced no side effects, and that I didn’t think about the prescription much – mainly because I don’t take it because I don’t need it! But to grant my pension I have to pretend that I’m taking it.
So, he said, ‘Well, you seem to be more hopeful today than your last appointment.’ I caught myself before blurting out what I was thinking, because at the last appointment my doctor told me that he was not obligated to complete the forms necessary to obtain my pension that I had paid into for 23 years. And that I realized was because I was not taking medications.
Since I was not (yet) experiencing side effects, and I ‘clearly’ appeared more hopeful to this medical professional, he recommended that my dosage be increased from 10 to 15mg. I once again succeeded in hiding my astonishment.
I predict that, at my follow-up appointment 8 weeks from now – when my pension benefits have already been approved and are rolling in, that he will attribute my even more hopeful mood to the use of anti-depressants. And I will let him believe his fantasy cuz I’ll be LIVING mine!”
And that’s how the ‘Docs in a Box’ stay in their Cloud of Confusion and Chaos!
Occasionally when I write a blog that’s not complimentary to allopathic medicine, like the one above, someone will mention that there are some good doctors out there. And indeed there are. In today’s blog I want to recommend Dr. Mercola’s new book: Effortless Healing: 9 Simple Ways to Sidestep Illness, Shed Excess Weight, and Help Your Body Fix Itself
Dr. Mercola has come to the same conclusion as I have about getting back to the basics. His book walks you through 9 simple but powerful steps with each one building on the last. Use the link for Effortless Healing to find out more.
