Yes, Congress is senile and brain-damaged according to a report from STAT News “An Old-School Pharmacy Hand-Delivers Drugs To Congress, A Little-Known Perk For The Powerful.” It’s a scary scenario, in the extreme.
Let me set the stage for you. STAT News is a health-oriented news website produced by The Boston Globe and launched on November 4, 2015 by John W. Henry, the Globe’s owner. I can’t figure out what side of the political fence The Boston Globe is on but this article about our lawmakers is unflattering in the extreme.
The STAT article reports that “Nearly every day for at least two decades pharmaceutical drugs have been brought by the carload to the Capitol — an arrangement so under the radar that even pharmacy lobbyists who regularly pitch Congress on their industry aren’t aware of it.” And it seems that you and I are paying for their drugs. “The deliveries arrive at the secretive Office of the Attending Physician, an elaborate medical clinic where Navy doctors triage medical emergencies and provide basic health care for lawmakers who pay an annual fee of just over $600.”
So, you and I are paying about $1,200 a month and $100 copay for every doctor’s visit and are lawmakers are paying peanuts! The article continues “Mike Kim, the reserved pharmacist-turned-owner of the pharmacy, said he has gotten used to knowing the most sensitive details about some of the most famous people in Washington. He said ‘At first it’s cool, and then you realize, I’m filling some drugs that are for some pretty serious health problems as well. And these are the people that are running the country.’ Kim said lawmakers were getting drugs to treat all manner of conditions from diabetes to Alzheimer’s. He said ‘It makes you kind of sit back and say, ‘Wow, they’re making the highest laws of the land and they might not even remember what happened yesterday.’”
How can Kim blow the whistle on Congress like this? Is Kim being set up? Is Congress being set up? What’s going on here? Is this part of “draining the swamp”? Have politicians gotten so used to drug lobbyists trolling the halls of Congress that drugs are like candy to them?
“At its busiest, Kim’s pharmacy sends as many as 100 prescriptions to members per day.” There are a total of 535 Members of Congress; 100 serve in the U.S. Senate and 435 serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. Bottom line – Congress is drugged and beholden to the drug companies. When I lobbied Congress in 2005, we met with a pro-alternative medicine Senator’s Chief Aide, who when pushed told us that the Senator could never vote against the drug companies or they would pull out their political campaign contributions and take their business offshore. Well, they went offshore anyway to the detriment of the US public with the influx of inferior drugs causing even more drug side effects in patients.
Let’s face it, the whole U.S. population is drugged, not just Congress, and there is nothing we can do about it except take care of our own health. We have to stay healthy so we won’t be put on the prescription merry-go-round! I’ve known this for a long time and that’s why I’ve devised the Completement Formulas as the best way to support the structure and function of the body and stay healthy.
