This is the conclusion of a 2014 study in the <a href="http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/early/2014/07/09/ajcn.113.080168.abstracthttp://" target="_blank">American Journal of Clinical Nutrition</a>. The researchers said “Daily magnesium oxide supplementation (300mg) for 12 weeks seems to improve physical performance in healthy elderly women. These findings suggest a role for magnesium supplementation in preventing or delaying the age-related decline in physical performance.”</p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>In the first few days of 2012 I’ve been inundated with emails about magnesium. </p>
<p>1, A reader wanted me to know that she thinks magnesium is going big-time because she heard a local talk radio advertising MagOx a magnesium oxide tablet for constipation and a TV ad for Phillips Caplets another magnesium oxide product for constipation. </p>
<p>She knows I say magnesium oxide is only 4% absorbed so it’s bound to cause the laxative effect yet, not give you enough magnesium for other important functions.  But we both agreed that at least some information about magnesium is getting out there. And at least MagOx is covered by Medicaid.</p>
