Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), commonly known as tapping, is a simple yet powerful method that can help you regain control over your emotions and improve your mental health. EFT is a form of psychological acupressure that involves tapping on specific points on the body while focusing on a particular issue or emotion. This technique combines the principles of traditional Chinese medicine with modern psychology to alleviate emotional distress and promote healing.

This versatile, self-empowering technique puts you in control of your mental health. Whether you’re seeking relief from stress, anxiety, or trauma, or simply want to enhance your emotional well-being, EFT offers a natural, non-invasive solution that can be easily integrated into your daily routine.

Reduce Stress, Ease Anxiety, and Heal Emotional Wounds

Unlock Your Full Potential

EFT Tapping is grounded in the concept that unresolved emotional issues can disrupt the body’s energy system, leading to mental and physical discomfort. Tapping acts as a form of psychological acupressure that involves tapping on specific points on the body while focusing on a particular issue or emotion. This technique blends the principles of traditional Chinese medicine with modern psychology to alleviate emotional distress and promote healing.

During an EFT session, you tap on meridian points on your face and body with your fingertips while voicing specific phrases related to the issue you want to address. The combination of tapping and verbalization helps to calm the nervous system, release emotional blockages, and restore balance to the body’s energy system.

  • Reduce Cortisol Levels: Research has shown that EFT can significantly lower cortisol, a stress hormone that, when elevated, can contribute to anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.
  • Rewire the Brain: EFT is believed to help rewire neural pathways, making it easier to process and release negative emotions. This process can lead to more positive thought patterns and behaviors over time.
  • Enhance Emotional Resilience: Regular practice of EFT tapping can build emotional resilience, helping you respond to life’s challenges with greater calm and clarity.

Ready To Try Tapping?

EFT Tapping was developed as a tool to self empower people to feel better about thoughts, feelings, beliefs and events that have been troublesome and sticky, keeping them stuck. It was designed for you to be able to get relief on your own. However, for persistent problems that seem to resist shifting, you may get deeper relief by working with our EFT Consultant, tapping expert and author Chris Wheeler.

Becoming an EFT Coach:

I first learned Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) tapping in 1999 at a time when I was stressed and depressed. I used tapping on a daily basis, and the more I tapped, the less I reacted to daily stresses that had been reminding my whole system of past upsets and traumas.

My emotional transformation, using tapping was so profound that I studied EFT and other energy psychology techniques like TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique) and WHEE (a hybrid of EFT and EMDR). At the time, I was working at an agency that “supported” people who were relying on income assistance to survive. I was forbidden from tapping with the clients I was working with who were struggling with anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

A Journey of Healing + Advocacy

I knew that having this tool at their fingertips would help people move out of survival mode so I opened my private practice in 2002. Since then, I’ve worked with thousands of people all over the world, helping them incorporate tapping into their daily lives while doing the deep work of unlocking and clearing the blocks that were keeping them stuck in a place that no longer served them.

I’d become a dedicated student and practitioner of EFT when Dr. Dean approached me to co-write IBS for Dummies. I wrote a chapter on using EFT tapping to soothe the symptoms and emotional aspects of IBS and this was the first time tapping was included in a mainstream publication. Upon reviewing the chapter, EFT founder, Gary Craig offered me a position as writer and editor of his newsletter, sharing EFT with more than a million subscribers. I continued in this position until his retirement.

In 2017 my book The Tapping Solution for Teenage Girls was published by Hay House. I continue to work with people of all ages, helping them feel better. Over the next decades, I’ve helped countless frustrated people who were stuck with misunderstood and mysterious illnesses like IBS, and who’ve had unpleasant (traumatic) medical experiences.
