The Maui ReSet Pilot Study

The Maui ReSet Pilot Study

Supporting a Healthy Aging Trajectory Through Targeted Cellular Nutrition

The Goal is to Reduce Your Biological Age by Slowing the Pace of Aging with the Right Nutrients

Over six months on Maui, ten everyday people, ages 34 to 79, followed the same daily nutrient protocol. A finger prick blood test before and after the 6 months study measured Age and Health Factors via epigenic methylation testing.

This page tells the whole story: what we did, what we say, and how my fifty-year career led to the formulas at its center.

What we set out to observe

This was a small town, real-world observational pilot, not a controlled clinical trial. Not randomized, not double-blinded, not placebo-controlled. On the heels of this study, I just finished writing a book called The Tarnished Gold Standard of Nutrition Science describing how impossible it is to do the “standard” RCT when measuring a full supplement protocol on a group of people. This study also occurs in a world where n=1 studies are becoming commonplace and a valuable contribution to finding out what works. I’ll show you the results, introduce you to people who achieved these results, and see where it lands in your life experience.

What I wanted to document

I wanted to do an in depth survey of my customer base to see how their health improved on my formulas. Our research director, who ran the Purdue ReMag Absorption Study in 2020 said it wouldn’t fly, we had to do a study with before and after testing. He was all fired up about the new epigenetic methylation testing and we realized that we could do a small pilot study right here in my own backyard.

The question was simple to ask, and I’ve been asking it for decades. When the body is given consistent, highly absorbable nutrients at the cellular level, we should see health benefits. And now with standardized epigenetic testing, we will be able to measure the biomarkers that track how a person is aging?

We chose a defined daily nutrient protocol. We recruited real people living real lives, with real stress and real health histories. And we measured them with an independent testing partner, before and after, so the numbers were not ours to grade.

What the tests actually measure

Epigenetic clocks read chemical tags on your DNA, called methylation, that shift in patterns as you age.

Two ideas matter here:

Biological age

A snapshot estimating how hold you are biologically right now compared with your chronological age.

Pace of aging

This is an estimate of how fast you are aging in real time. Are you burning through life hard and fast or nice an slow giving you “time” to smell the roses.

We went all out and used three clocks:

OMICm Age is how old the body looks overall, apparently with the help of AI surveying 800,000 methylation receptor sites.

Symphony Age shows which of eleven organ systems are aging faster or slower.

DunedinPACE is how fast you are aging right now, the speedometer, and the one sensitive enough to move within about three months.

To be clear, these are not diagnoses, they are risk-and-trend assessments.

The bigger picture: Where is this testing being used?

In 2026, a large randomized controlled trial called COSMOS (n=958) reported that a daily multivitamin-mineral taken over a period of 2 years slowed the rate by a mere 4 months. It’s being touted as a well-designed, independent evidence that multiple nutrients are associated with aging biology.

Our pilot expands to an array of nutrients delivered in highly-absorbable picometer ionic forms to ask if we can move that needle meaningfully in an even shorter time? The two studies used different clocks (but they are all epigentic methylation clocks) and very different designs, so they are not directly comparable, and we never present ours as beating a randomized trial. We show the parameters side by side, and let them stand.

What the pilot involved

The core design choices behind the Maui ReSet pilot, at a glance.
DesignUncontrolled observational pilot, n=10
Duration6 months
Clocks measuredOMICm Age, plus DunedinPACE
Reported changeFavorable OMICm shifts in several participants, no control group
AbsorptionStabilized picometer ionic minerals (see our ReMag Absorption Study Purdue 2020). We also used food-based vitamins, low-potency food-based methylated B vitamins, which tend to be well absorbed.

A pattern in the sequence of change

Across participants, we noted a consistent order in which mental and physical symptoms improved, which is a useful clinical observation.

1. Symptoms ease first

Often within the first one to two months: less fatigue, less brain fog, steadier mood, fewer aches. In some participants it was in the first several weeks.

2. Organ-system markers shift next

With the final testing, we saw improvements in the Yale eleven-organ click where the organ system improvements seemed to be greater than the OMICm Age markers.

3. The deepest clock moves last

The whole-genome reading (OMICm Age) seemed to move to a lesser extent than the organ clock because it reflects the slowest, most fundamental layer. And we did only run the study for 6 months.

The practical implication is that six months may be too short to capture the full arc. If symptoms improve first and the deep clock moves last, a twelve-month protocol would give that deepest layer time to catch up. That is the central argument for a longer, larger, controlled study, which is exactly what a pilot like this exists to justify.

The formulas, and the physician behind them

Disclosure: The daily protocol was a defined set of seven formulas designed by Dr. Carolyn Dean, MD ND, and available through her website rnareset.com.

Dr Dean is a medical doctor and naturopath whose fifty-year career has centered on how minerals an nutrient sactually reach the cell. The four liquid minerals use stabilized picometer ionic forms that are the perfect size to be absorbed through the pciometer-sized, cell mineral ion channels. The three nutrient capsule formulas are food-based.

Two basic ideas explain why this set of formulas was chosen for a study about aging biomarkers. Minerals are the foundation the cell runs on, and magnesium alone participates in 600-800 enzyme reactions, including the systems that copy and maintain DNA.

The methylated B vitamins in the protocol feed one-carbon metabolism, the methyl-group system that supports normal cellular function, which is the same chemistry the epigenetic clocks read. We do not say these formulas treat or cure. These are nutrients that support the normal structure and function of the body’s own systems.

What this means, and what comes next

Summary Conclusion: A rigourous, randomized trial (COSMOS) has shown that a basic multiple vitamin/mineral can move epigenetic aging clocks. Our small pilot, using highly-absorbable forms of vitamins and minerals, saw very favorable trends in most of ten real people over six months, alongside a consistent pattern where symptoms eased first and the deepest clock moved last. That pattern suggests a longer study would likely show even more beneficial results at the deepest layer. It is a hypothesis worth testing at scale, and that is why pilot studies exist.

If the approach makes sense to you, the path is the same one the study followed:

  1. Discover where you stand, with a baseline biological-age reading.
  2. Optimize with consistent, high-absorption nutrient support and healthy daily habits.
  3. Verify by measuring again and watching changes.

Your biology is a snapshot today. The trend is the part you get to work on.
